I made some major changes to the Lands of Aethar snapshot. Notice the new link from the frontpage to an area-list. This should make exploring the Aethar world considerably easier and less tedious. Also, individual rooms and character pages in the world now have a little box in the upper right-hand corner saying which area they’re from.
In addition, some rooms have new “teleport” exits in them. These represent links between rooms which were specially programmed into special “MUD scripts”, which aren’t always captured by plain vanilla exits. For example, if the player has to bribe a guard to get transported past a barricaded door, the transporting might be in a script and have nothing to do with a “physical” exit. Some of these “magical” means of transportation are now captured by the “teleport” exits. (The easiest one to see is the one at the Temple Square, which corresponds to a script which let members of a certain council travel to their headquarters from that room by entering a special command)
That should significantly improve the navigatability of the Aethar world
Another very important part of this update is that the actual authors of the content now get their due credit. I felt a little guilty before about displaying all those rooms with no mention of who wrote them in the first place!
If anyone has any suggestions how to further improve on this project, please let me know, and I’ll take them into consideration.
