Couldn't disagree with you more on this. As native Italian speakers, we found English to be the great unifier when we settled in the US. By using English (which we became quite comfortable with without the high tech bells and whistles), we were not only able to speak to our neighbors from other parts of the world, but to other Italians who spoke regional dialects which were radically different from ours. None of us resented English as the de-facto lingua franca. On the contrary, it was comforting to know that wherever we traveled in the country, we could count on everyone understanding us and as such it was easier for us and others like us to assimilate by using the common language.

Ok no you guys are stupid. Learn some frickin history. Britan BOUGHT that land from the Native Americans. So that means they can do whatever they want on it. So no, what the US needs is an official language which is English. And I mean what are we speeking in now? German? Nien! no we aren't we're talking in English. You guys that think it shouldn't be the official language are REALLY REALLY frickin stupid
I recently came across your website, and I created an account just so I could tell you what a ridiculous opinion you have. Especially about how the language of the U.S. should be a mesh of Native American languages. As far as I know, there was no established government when the immigrants arrived here. They came, and set up the system we live by, then created a government. All of which was written in...ENGLISH! Everything was established in this country in English. The Native Americans never created a government to take over this country. So, if this country was started by a group of people that spoke English and established all the laws we would abide by in English, why should English not be our official language? No one stopped the Mexicans from taking central america, or for all the countries dividing up South America. Yet, you travel there, and they all have their own language. Why should we not establish our own? We are a country aren't we? We want to accept others, that is good, but not at the expense of our country. This is not China, or Mexico, or any other country! Why should we have to change everything about the U.S. to accept everyone else?

well, your saying that the other countries look bad since they have their own language established, your are practicaly looking down on them, so why then are you trying to do the same as them?
